Q: Is a shiatsu massage?

A: Shiatsu uses physical pressure and stretches to reduce muscular tension and loosen stiff joints as part of the treatment. Unlike massage, the receiver remains clothed during the treatment and the principle aim of Shiatsu is

not to work on the localised points of pain, but to take an overall picture of the receivers health and aid healing without discomfort

Q: Is shiatsu healing?

A: It is more accurate to say that Shiatsu 'aids healing', with an aim to assist the body's natural healing process by encouraging the client's energy to move into a more balanced state. This can manifest as a boost to your immune system and improved circulation

Q: Will I have to change my lifestyle?

A: Your Practitioner will respect your lifestyle, as Shiatsu is particularly beneficial for people with high-stress occupations

Q: How does shiatsu diagnosis work?

A: Playing a central role in your treatment, your Practitioner will begin with asking general questions about your health, and then begin the session by gently palpating the abdominal region. This area is especially important in the diagnosis as it is central to all the body's systems and subtle imbalances can be revealed here. If you are at anytime uncomfortable with this, please let your Practitioner know

People are normally pleasantly surprised when they try shiatsu for the first time. It is relaxing yet the pressure is firm, and there is usually no soreness afterwards
