... but what is it? Shiatsu literally means 'finger pressure'
Shiatsu is a modern day form of
Japanese physiotherapy that has its roots in ancient healing techniques and chinese medicine. More than just meaning 'pressure' though, it
works on the points of acupuncture along the body’s energy channels known as 'Meridians' to stimulate various bodily systems.
It combines massage, gentle stretches,
manipulation and pressure using palms and
thumbs. The aim is to maintain the energy levels
of your body for your general well being. When
your body is unbalanced, temporary blockages,
for example around joints, can appear as
physical ailments such as inflammation.
Shiatsu aims to release these blockages
and re-balance your energy & vitality to
encourage healing & maintain good health
... in other words ...
you feel great afterwards!
